Info for June 20-28

So many fun and exciting things coming up for the end of the year. Read through the details below to stay informed. 

If your child will be missing any of the final days of school, you MUST let me know so I can plan accordingly and send all their belongings home before their final day of school. Please e-mail me as soon as you know your child will not be in attendance. 

We have an assembly, Indigenous Pride Day, Sports day, Fun lunch, in-class celebrations, etc. as we make our way to the end of the school year and summer break. 

Monday, June 20: FORMAL UNIFORM for Farewell Assembly
Tuesday, June 21: Orange Shirt Day for Indigenous Pride Day
Wednesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 23: Casual clothing
Friday, June 24: Sports Day! Our class colour is PURPLE. 
Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28: Casual clothing

Quick notes: 

• If your child will be missing any of the final days of school, email me ASAP so that I can make sure they are prepared to go home with all of their belongings. 
• Boat projects and their corresponding work pages are due on Friday, June 17th (this Friday). We will be testing them on Monday morning. This is an important part of their Boats & Buoyancy science unit. 
• Tuesday, June 21st will be Orange Shirt Day to commemorate Indigenous Pride Day. 

Our class had so much fun bowling last week! It was such a nice opportunity to set the end-of-year academics aside and have fun together. Students were so encouraging of each other, cheering their friends on, and aiming for that elusive strike!

June!!

Wow, it's June already! 

As close as we are to the end of the school year, there are still more than 3 weeks left of learning! Please take a minute to remind your child about classroom/school expectations for learning. 

Scholastic book orders- It is important that your child is reading daily, even through the summer, to maintain the decoding and comprehension skills learned this year. If you are looking to buy some new books for your child, the scholastic website has many diverse, and varied-levels of books to choose from. Use our classroom code RC637365 at checkout and our classroom will receive a percentage of your purchase. I use this money to add to my classroom library and buy books for all students to keep at the end of the year. Feel free to use this code through the summer months as well!

Bowling- We will be going bowling on Wednesday and Thursday of this week! Students are so excited for an hour of bowling fun! We will be walking up the hill to Toppler Bowl. 

Fun lunch- There is 1 more fun lunch for the year. The Boston Pizza menu is posted on Healthy Hunger if you would like to order for your child. 

Uniforms- It is important that your child still comes to school with all the required uniform pieces. Mondays are still FORMAL uniform days! 

Library books- ALL library books are due back by June 10th (Friday)! Send them in starting Monday. We will no longer be checking out new books. 

Next year- Our school planning is well underway for next year. If your child will NOT be attending LRD next year, please let the office know ASAP.
